SANAA President opens 62nd SA Archery Championships in Grahamstown
In officially opening the 62nd SA National Archery Championships, federation president, Selwyn Moskovitz announced that the work of the SANAA Olympic Commission officially starts their four-year project in earnest today. "The commission's role is simple - identify talent at these championships, nurture them over the next four years, and give us a pool of 10 archers who will represent South Africa at the 2016 Rio Olympics". The commission comprises of FITA Judge Emeritus Professor Konrad van Warmelo, Olympian Leanda HENDRICKS and well known archer Deon Louw. The commission will spend the next few days evaluating archers as they shoot in-competition. The president emphasized the significance of the National Championships, announcing that the event is also the selection games for the University Games (Spain), the Archery World Cup (USA) and the Para-Championships (UK); all which take place in the next few months.
