Step aside Robin of Robin Hood, Legolas of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and make way for female archer Katniss of The Hunger Games.
Archery clubs all over the country are expecting a surge of interest in the sport with the upcoming release of the movie, The Hunger Games. Amongst them are Olympian Leanda Hendricks who has been preparing an archery development event for a school in Gauteng which launches this week, coinciding with the release of the movie. "The nearest club to the school is Marks Park, and I am preparing Marks Park for a possible influx of calls and interest", she added. "What will those interested in doing archery do when they leave the theater? Wouldn't it be great to receive a handout with contact details to the nearest club, there and then? Will interest flag when The Hunger Games leaves the circuit? Maybe, maybe not. Best to be prepared for possible higher interest than usual". To contact your nearest club, click here.
