To serve as a supreme governing body in all matters pertaining to the amateur sport of target archery in the Republic of South Africa and any other regional territory which, through affiliation becomes a member under the jurisdiction of the SANAA.
Affiliate to World Archery, which the SANAA recognises as the international governing body in all matters pertaining to archery in the world, and to accept the jurisdiction of World Archery in all matters governing the sport of archery, with the exception that the SANAA reserves the right to exercise authority in its own domestic affairs.
By virtue of its affiliation to World Archery, the SANAA shall automatically be affiliated to the Federation of African Archery, hereinafter referred to in its abbreviated form as the FAA.
Affiliate to the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee, hereinafter referred to in its abbreviated form as the SASCOC, Archery South Africa, and any other amateur sports bodies that may prove necessary.
Expand its field of operation in such a manner as may from time to time be expedient and in the interests of the SANAA.
Adopt, interpret and enforce Rules and By-Laws governing the sport of Archery in the Republic of South Africa and other affiliated territories.
Promote and encourage the sport of archery in the Republic of South Africa.
Ensure that the sport of archery remains an amateur sport and that the eligibility rules for amateurs, as laid down in FITA rules and the rules of the International Olympic Committee, are strictly observed and enforced.
Reserve the right to approve, and hold for presentation, such floating trophies or honours / awards as may from time to time be offered or donated to the SANAA.
Arrange the national tournaments to be held to decide the SA Champions in the men, Women, junior men, junior Women, cadet men, cadet Women, cub men, cub Women and under-12 classes for both individual and team competitions in the Recurve, compound and standard bow and Recurve limited divisions, and to authorise annually the venue and sponsors of such tournaments. These tournaments will be known and referred to as the South African National Outdoor Target Archery Championships or the South African National Indoor Target Archery Championships as may be appropriate.
Protect and safeguard all material assets belonging to the SANAA and ensure that these assets are properly maintained in good working order.
Arrange for the collection of dues, fees and other monetary contributions, as decided on in the bylaws, to assist the SANAA in its financial obligations and solvency.
The SANAA shall have sole right and authority in deciding on the selection of archers for international target archery competitions and in recommending, to the South African Colours Board, the awarding of Protea Colours to such competitors, their manager and / or coach.
Endeavour at all times to preserve and maintain the tightest standard of sportsmanship in our relations with other sportsmen irrespective of their country, gender, person, race, religion or political affiliations.
The SANAA will render its services to all groups or bodies throughout the Republic of South Africa, irrespective of their gender, person, race, religion or political affiliations, and in all honesty and sincerity endeavour to comply with the rules of FITA and of the International Olympic Committee in this respect.
