Another feather in Mary's Cap : WP to see a new judge on the line soon
The Western Province is about to see a new judge candidate on the line. Mary van Wyk (RW) started archery in the UK in 2003, joining her husband on the line. She quickly realised the challenge and fun of the sport and particularly enjoyed the social aspects of shooting. Mary Obtained her ‘bowman’ status and shot for the county (Middlesex) both indoors and outdoors while also taking on Cranford Archery Club secretary and child protection officer posts. Mary earned 6-gold-end status, several FITA stars as well as roses (imperial equivalent of stars). At an archery improvement course at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, she became more interested in the coaching aspects of the sport, leading up to a level 2 archery coaching course and working with the youth. In 2008, Mary and her husband emigrated back to SA and joined the Belville Archery Club. "I am looking into a way back into the sport which does not require hours of practise! I am hoping that judging will allow me this opportunity and will be another feather in my archery cap!"
