The role of accredited coaches in South Africa is to train, develop and mentor our Instructors who are tasked with taking the novice within two years to the competition line. Coaches are accredited for a period of four years and undergo an evaluation by World Archery. The level of accreditation is recognised worldwide. The South African National Archery Association does not accredit personal coaches.
In 2011 the South African Sports Commission and Olympic Committee defined a national coaching framework covering all aspects of coaching. As of 2014, only coaches who have been issued a license to coach by the SA National Archery Association will be allowed to practice as a coach. Full details of the South African Coaching Framework can be found on this link. Accredited coaches are recognised by the Provincial Sports Confederations and are registered with our National Olympic Committee.
SANAA follows the World Archery coaching methodology as a framework for its coaching policy. The following publications can be downloaded:
Accredited Instructors Under the authority of the Development Officer, Basic Training Instructors have been accredited and are qualified to present the Feathers and Arrows development program. These instructors are coaches who have gone through a formal program and who have been trained how to coach the program. As accredited instructors, these coaches are authorised to issue the Feathers and Arrows pins and awards to archers who have completed the various courses. A list of accredited instructors can be found on this link.
