The weighted score is a calculation of an archers average score over a 12 month period with a weighting % being applied to each score - the oldest score gets the lowest % applied and the most recent score get the highest % applied.
This score is a very good reflection of who are the most consistent archers - not only with regard to score, but also with commitment to their own development by attendance at recognised and registered tournaments. It is for this reason that the weighted score plays a vital role in the selection of Protea teams to represent South Africa at international events, the awarding of the Associations National Colours (SANAA Colours) and possible inclusion onto the Gold and Candidate Squad Programme's.
A SANAA registered archer must have competed in a minimum of 5 FITA registered tournaments within a 12 month period. From these tournaments the best 5 scores are taken in chronological order and the following calculation is applied:
Formula: AS = (S1x0,1)+(S2x0,15)+(S3x0,2)+(S4x0,25)+(S5x0,3)
Where a double FITA has been shot - only one score, the higher of the two, will be taken - i.e. 5 tournaments not 5 scores and the most recent score can not be older than 3 months The Weighted Scores for Protea teams and Gold Squad selection currently are:
