Held from 10-18 October 2009, the Games will see competitors from over 100 countries take part in 28 sports. The Games will utilise many of the same world class venues that hosted the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, ensuring competitors have a “once in a lifetime” opportunity to encounter an Olympic style experience. Games registrations open on 2 June 2008. The World Masters Games is the largest multi-sport event in the world, having been first
held in 1985 in Toronto, Canada. Promoting the philosophy of “sport for life”, the Games
motivate a goal-oriented and long-term attitude towards sport, health and physical fitness.
The Games are expected to bring over 25,000 competitors from over 100 countries to the
sport loving city of Sydney. Staged from 10-18 October 2009, the Sydney 2009 World
Masters Games will comprise 28 sports.

Anyone can compete in the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games, regardless of gender, race or ability as long as the minimum age requirement for each sport is met (which is generally 30 years depending on the sport). For more information on the Games please visit www.2009worldmasters.com.
